From casting to final dimensions — with no second supplier
A casting coming out of the sand carries deliberate machining allowances — extra metal on the functional surfaces that is removed by machining to reach the final size and the tolerances required on the drawing. Doing the casting and the machining in the same factory means single responsibility for the final part: no coordination between a foundry and a workshop, no dispute over who caused a dimension to fall out, and a shorter lead time.
